Firm Overview

Gregory Johnson formed the firm in 1995. Before forming the firm, Mr. Johnson practiced for many years at an insurance defense firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Johnson • Provo-Petersen • O’Neill, LLP's legal staff includes four attorneys, one "of counsel" and two paralegals. The firm is located in downtown St. Paul, one block away from the Ramsey County District Court and the U.S. Federal District Court building.

The firm is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating and is listed in the Best's Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys.

The majority of the firm's practice is devoted to the representation of garage insurers, automobile dealerships and repossession and finance companies. The firm defends claims alleging violations of truth-in lending laws and consumer protection statutes as well as employment discrimination and commission disputes, automobile and general liability claims.

Another significant portion of the firm's practice involves the defense of automobile, taxicab and rental car claims in trial, appeal and arbitration. The firm defends both first-party claims and liability claims. Mr. Johnson authored the 1991, 1994, 2000 and 2001 editions of the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Insurance Manual, a treatise that has been recognized by Minnesota courts as an authority on automobile insurance law.

The partners have appeared before the Minnesota Supreme Court, Minnesota Court of Appeals and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals on numerous occasions. To date, they have prevailed on approximately 85% of these cases.

Effective and cost efficient claims resolution is realized, in part, by the fact that our practice is focused, avoiding the need for self-education. By focusing our practice on areas in which we have considerable experience, providing training services to our clients to reduce litigation and promptly evaluating claims that do arise, we have been able to meet our goals.
